EFFECTS OF NON-UNIFORM HEATING ON NATURAL CONVECTION WITHIN RHOMBIC ENCLOSURES: A NUMERICAL STUDY
Resumo
In this paper, we numerically investigate the heat transfer and entropy generation characteristics for a two-dimensional steady and laminar natural convection in an air-filled (Pr = 0.71) rhombic enclosure. The side walls are maintained at cold temperature and the hot top and bottom walls have varying non-uniform temperature distributions with different phases. The fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics are systematically investigated for Rayleigh number in the range of 103 to 106, for different phase deviation angle and amplitude parameter related to the non-uniform temperature profile of the top and bottom walls. Results are presented in terms of streamlines, isotherms, local Nusselt number, average Nusselt number, and distribution of entropy generation due to fluid friction and heat transfer.
