Resumo

Thermal contact conductance across the interface of pressed metallic joints is of interest to researchers and practicing engineers. At cryogenic temperatures, thermal contact conductance is affected by parameters like variation in material and thermal properties, changes in the contact pattern and pressure introduced by differential contraction. The direction of heat flow is another parameter influencing thermal contact conductance. The property variation due to temperature along with change in surface parameters make it difficult to model and estimate thermal contact conductance of dissimilar joints at cryogenic temperature. Joints formed with common alloys in cryogenic application were experimentally investigated in this work. The rectification effect was demonstrated in dissimilar metal combinations. The characteristics like thermal contact conductance and heat flux across joint were generated in150K to 320K temperature range. By reversing heat flow, it was observed that significant change in heat flux and thermal contact conductance could be achieved.
