Аннотация

Numerical studies on mass transfer in a Taylor Couette Poiseuille flow in a cylindrical annulus with ribs mounted on the rotating inner cylinder are presented. Three-dimensional, unsteady, incompressible, turbulent fluid flow is solved using a SIMPLE algorithm based finite volume method. The numerical procedure is validated using an experimental data reported in the literature. Numerical computations are carried out for a Reynolds number, Re = 2100 and modified Taylor number, Tam = 30000 for a smooth annulus and an annulus with ribs. A mass efflux boundary condition is implemented at the inner cylinder boundary, which is a sublimating species. Hot air axially passes over the sublimating surface and it starts evolving once it approaches its vaporization temperature. Axial ribs mounted on the inner cylinder generate secondary flows which has a significant influence on the evolution of species from the surface. The local Sherwood numbers are higher for an axial rib when compared to its smooth counterpart in all regions except in the wake of a rib.
