Аннотация

The study of synthetic jet impinging on heated flat surface finds its applications in thermal management of electronic chips. The present experimental study investigates the evolution of cold synthetic jet impinging normally on a heated vertical flat plate using smoke flow visualization and infrared thermography techniques. Comparison of the heated plate and isothermal configuration has also been carried out. An orifice size of 10 mm, a periodic actuation of frequency of f = 2.64Hz) and an amplitude of Δ = 3mm are used as the pertinent parameters for the generation of synthetic jet which impinges on a target plate placed at an axial location of 50 mm from the orifice. Trajectory of core of vortex rings is utilized to observe rebound and radial expansion of synthetic jet after impingement. Interaction of synthetic jet and cross buoyancy force and their effect on fluid flow and heat transfer is evaluated. The interaction changes vortical structures of synthetic jet and induces asymmetry in the flow. Secondary vortex is generated at even such low frequency of actuation, which is found to enhance the heat transfer.
