Аннотация

The thermal energy storages are widely investigated to improve designs and charging/discharging methods for different applications. The present study explores the charging and discharging characteristics of a concrete-based sensible energy storage system (SESS) having multiple cylindrical passages fitted with wire coil inserts. The tests were conducted to collect the data pertaining to the temperature of SESS, mass flow rate, and inlet temperature of heat transfer fluid. During the tests, the inlet temperature of the heat transfer fluid was varied from 45 − 75 °C at the mass flow rate of 0.029 kg/s and the pitch to diameter ratio of wire coil inserts is varied from 0.25-0.75. The charging and discharging energy efficiency of SESS have been significantly improved by the application of wire coil inserts. The maximum charging and discharging energy efficiency of SESS are found to be 82.9% and 93.4% with wire coil inserts.
