The aim was to measure the laminar burning velocity of ethane and propane reacting with the air and oxygen-enriched air at P=1-4bar, 300K, ∅ = 0.6 − 1.5 and different O2 mole fractions in the air. Laminar burning velocity measurements were performed in a constant volume spherical chamber using the constant pressure method (CPM) and constant volume method (CVM). In CPM, the flame images recorded during the pre-pressure period of an experiment were processed to find unstretched laminar burning velocity and burned gas Markstein length. In CVM, the measured unsteady pressure data recorded after the prepressure period was processed using a thermodynamic model to estimate LBV. Later, a power-law correlation was used to find the LBV at the initial conditions in CVM. One dimensional planar flame model in ANSYS CHEMKIN along with three different kinetic schemes was used to simulate all the experimental conditions. The LBV obtained from CPM and CVM showed an excellent agreement with each other for all studied mixtures. A higher mole fraction of O2 in the mixture was capable of transforming an unstable mixture to a stable one with respect to the preferential diffusion effects due to an increase in Lewis number. Simulations indicated that GRI-Mech 3.0 predicted poorly as compared to other analyzed kinetic schemes.
